The biggest film festival ever to be staged in the Limpopo province is currently underway and will end on 4 March.

Having started on 23 January, the Limpopo Next Gen Film Festival is the first ever province-wide distribution which aims to screen over 35 projects in about 150 venues across the province, free of charge.

“This is an exciting time for newcomers in the local film industry as this inaugural film festival is aimed at youth filmmakers across the provinces with projects made between December 2019 and January 2023,” says Anna Mahlangu of Limpopo Home Cinema.

She adds that several screenings will be conducted at the audience's doorstep via mobile cinema screenings in high schools, tertiary institutions, public halls and arts theatres over the period of 6 weeks.

The festival is also virtual, giving access to a wider audience across the globe who may join in via the festival mobile app, website and other digital streaming platforms.

Viewers will be treated to various forms of entertainment genres that are generally not accepted in other festivals from Short form to Feature projects, Fiction or Reality. Eligible genres include Movies, Documentaries, Narrative Music Videos, Stand-up Comedies, Theatre Sketches, and reality shows.
