Get a handle on your finances
In an effort to help young professionals manage their finances, a group of four people have developed a mobile application (App) that tracks bank transactions, making it easier for its users to see exactly where their monies goes to when they are not paying attention.
Developed three years ago, the budget and expenses App uses artificial intelligence (AI) to track the spending habits of its clients. The app allow users to export portable document format (PDF) bank statements from all major South African banks as a supplement to the reading of SMSes.
Mpilisweni School of Specialisation officially launched in Gauteng
Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) MEC, Matome Chiloane, has officially launched the Mpilisweni Maths, Science & ICT School of Specialisation, with a focus on Manufacturing and Logistics in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni.
The GDE streamlines its schools to match the focuses of each of the schools' Economic Development Corridors, thus responding to the skills gap of each corridor. 
Top tips for aspiring entrepreneurs
While there are more than two million small, micro, and medium enterprises (SMMEs), representing 98% of formal businesses and employ 50-60% of the labour force, South Africa remains on the list of the world’s highest failure rate among SMMEs.

Over one million new voters added to the voters’ roll
The Electoral Commission says 1.2 million new voters have been added to the voters’ roll since November 2023, as the country prepares for this year’s National and Provincial Elections.
Chief Electoral Officer, Sy Mamabolo, says the two registration weekends have given the country a growth of 1.2 million citizens on the voters’ roll.
Climate Change Fund to create resilient communities
Government is expected to establish a Climate Change Response Fund to address the devastating effects of the phenomenon (of climate change) on vulnerable areas in South Africa.
“This will bring together all spheres of government and the private sector in a collaborative effort to build our resilience and respond to the impacts of climate change,” President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Eco Char creating employment for unemployed youth
Thobani May (28) from the Free State saw a business opportunity from clearing wattle trees.
He collects the shrubs and converts to quality braai charcoal.
This is all thanks to the Youth Employment Service (YES) programme that empowered him with the necessary skills.
It was this training that saw May, together with Reatile Mohlauli, establish Eco Char.
