More South Africans can get vaccines

With South Africa’s mass Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)vaccination programme reaching more people by the day, government has announced that from 1 September, those between 18 and 34 years of age will be vaccinated.

President Cyril Ramaphosa said the country’s vaccination drive has gained momentum in recent weeks, with more than 10% of the population having now received a vaccine dose.

“This has been possible through close collaboration between government and the private sector and with the active support of other social partners,” said the President.

Relief package supports the needy

Government is implementing a range of measures to provide relief to the poor and support the recovery of the economy.

Beneficiaries of these measures include people affected by the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) lockdown restrictions and the unrest experienced in some parts of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng recently.

“We are taking decisive action now to secure the livelihoods of millions of people who have been threatened by both the pandemic and the unrest.

New app is ScamProof

A new app has been developed to help people determine if a job opportunity is a scam and if tertiary education facilities are registered. Self-taught programmer Anathi Mseleni has developed the ScamProof app.

A self-taught computer programmer has developed an app for people to detect scams and help prevent human trafficking. 

Opportunities for farmers

Previously disadvantaged  farmers can apply for assistance from the Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform. 

The Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform is calling on emerging livestock farmers and those interested in crop production to apply for inclusion in its programmes to help the previously disadvantaged.
