The Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) has identified several priority interventions to accelerate pathways into the economy for young people over the next five years.

Ensuring child safety in schools

Many children are at risk of being abducted when their parents or guardians are unable to pick them up from school. To address this challenge, two young people have come up with an innovative idea to ensure child safety in schools.

Ntokozo Hlomuka (26) and Keletso Lekwakwe (24) are the founders of PasswordKid, a system that helps to verify parents, transport drivers, or trustees when they pick up children from school.

Men should not suffer in silence

Many men who are diagnosed with prostate cancer tend to feel isolated and often find it difficult to seek help. After the diagnosis, their lives change dramatically and it is at this time that they need not only medical care but also support to help them cope with the disease.

Andrew Oberholzer, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa (PCFSA), said there is a dire need to raise awareness about the disease.

Rising netball star looking to impress at World Cup

The preparations of the Spar Proteas for the 2023 Vitality Netball World Cup are taking shape, as Boitumelo Mahloko gears up for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent her country at a World Cup played on home soil. 

For the 22-year-old goal defender from Polokwane, Limpopo, playing for the national team is an honour.

“To be part of the team that’s going to play the World Cup in Cape Town is huge,” she told Vuk’uzenzele with excitement.
