Slicing and dicing made easy by Ready Chopped Veggies

For Botshelo Charmaine Mahlangu, ‘convenience’ is the magic word for career-driven women juggling motherhood.
In 2020, Mahlangu became a first-time mom who wanted to prepare healthy meals for her family but found the task of chopping vegetables daunting and time consuming.

“I thought to myself, what if there was a place where I could buy fresh veggies that are cut the way I like,” she said.

Fish farmer swims upstream thanks to government funding

Kenalemang Thekiso is thrilled to have received funding from the government to expand his aquaculture project.

The North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (NWDARD) armed Thekiso Aquaculture Project with R1.6 million worth of equipment  that boasts seven ponds, a state-of-the-art solar system, and feed to cultivate Nile tilapia fish.

The fish operation is run on a 1 000-hectare community property association land.

From battling cancer to building an empire

Surviving breast cancer has inspired Sthabile Amanda Nxumalo (26) of Hammarsdale in KwaZulu-Natal to reimagine her nail salon business to reach more customers. 

Nxumalo is the owner of NailsbyStha, a business that she started in 2016 while studying towards a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg campus. 

She decided to open a nail salon at the end of the school calendar in 2016 because she wanted to generate  an income.
