Thank you for writing to Vuk’uzenzele, a government newspaper produced by the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS).

To make an appointment for a Smart ID Card, please follow these steps:

1. Visit the Department of Home Affair's Branch Appointment Booking System (BABS) at https://services.dha.gov.za/#/authenticate/identity
2. Log in using your South African ID number or passport details.
3. Enter your name, surname, and contact number. You may also provide an email address.
4. Select the 'identity card' service.
5. Choose your province, city, and preferred Home Affairs branch.
6. Click 'select timeslots' and choose an available date and time.
7. Review the declaration, then click 'confirm' to finalise your booking.
