A journey of democracy in the Northern Cape

The town of Hanover in the Northern Cape is dubbed the ‘middle’ of South Africa. It sits halfway between Johannesburg and Cape Town; between Cape Town and Durban, and between Upington and Port Elizabeth. 

Hanover falls under the Emthanjeni Municipality.

Besides its interesting geographic location, it is home to Olive Schreiner, the acclaimed late author of The Story of an African Farm, who championed women’s rights and was an anti-racist. The trailblazing Schreiner lived between 1855 and 1920.  

Strong municipalities needed to grow economy

Efficient and strong municipalities are key to ensuring that South Africa’s economy grows and jobs are created.

This is according to President Cyril Ramaphosa who recently addressed the District Development Model (DDM) Presidential Imbizo at Tsakane Stadium in Ekurhuleni, Gauteng.

The Presidential Imbizo is a platform for communities to interact with government leaders on service delivery issues.

Heritage: preserving the legacy of black commercial farmers

Preserving the legacy of black commercial farmers is crucial to honouring South Africa’s heritage as part of celebrating 30 years of freedom. 

Vuk’uzenzele recently joined food-producing company Tiger Brands Heritage Tour in Musina in Limpopo. Themed, ‘The Tomato Journey From Seedling to Plate’. The tour involved a visit to the Dr NJ Nesane Farm. 

The farm is named after its late founder, Dr Ntuseni Jameson Nesane, who established the farm more than 50 years ago. 

Vodacom and Unisa join hands for academic excellence

Philasande Sokuyeka (23) is a University of South Africa (Unisa) student who is excited to hear that she can interact with Unisa for free following the launch of a zero-rated call centre.

The first year Bachelor of Education student said the zero-rated call centre eliminates high data costs associated with interacting with Unisa making it easier for students to seek assistance without financial concerns.
