Grade 12 learners, who plan to pursue studies in the water and sanitation field, have until 30 September to apply for bursaries offered by the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS).

The DWS offers the comprehensive bursaries to learners who plan to study in the 2025 academic year. 

Over the past 30 years, South Africa has come a long way in creating a country that respects and honours women’s rights. Today, women are represented in every sphere of society, and even in roles that were previously only the domain of men.

It was however, not always like this.  At the dawn of democracy in 1994 we inherited a deeply divided society, with profound socio-economic and racial disparities. Women were mostly relegated to the fringes of society and had no real agency.

This is unfair treatment.

 The National Heritage Council of South Africa (NHC) is inviting heritage practitioners, activists and enthusiasts to apply for the Heritage Funding applications until 30 August 2024. 

The NHC is an entity of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture that is responsible for the preservation, protection and promotion of the country’s heritage.

Sabelo Mkhwanazi’s business, Mayanda Fresh supermarket, is centred around providing fresh produce to the community of oThongathi, KwaZulu-Natal.

Mkhwanazi said prior to launching the establishment he realised that his community was complaining about purchasing expired and rotten goods from nearby shops which prompted him to start the business model.

Mayanda Fresh was officially opened in June 2023.

If perseverance and grit are the hallmarks of entrepreneurship then businessman, Wade Muller, is the embodiment.

Based in the Western Cape, Muller is the proud owner of a shoe manufacturing company, Happi Shoes, that has enjoyed relative success peppered with ups and downs.
