Last year was a milestone for the country’s flourishing vehicle manufacturers, when the six millionth vehicle built in South Africa was exported. It was also a record year for new vehicle exports, reaching nearly 400,000 vehicles.

If you are going to be outside of the voting district where you are registered on voting day, 29 May 2024, you must notify the Electoral Commission (IEC) by 17 May. 

You can complete an online Section 24A form to inform the IEC in which voting district you would like to vote at, on election day. 

According to the IEC, a total of Total 27 698 369 South Africans have registered to vote this year.

ELECTIONS

The Electoral Commission (IEC) is in the final stretch of preparations for the seventh democratic elections, which are believed to be the most contested in the history of the country.

South Africans will go to the polls on 29 May 2024 to elect the leadership for the seventh administration out of the 70 political parties and 11 independent candidates that were published by the IEC as final contestants in these elections. 

In total, over 14 903 candidates vying for 887 seats in the National and Provincial Legislatures.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Helping the most vulnerable people in the community of Nhlazatshe in Mpumalanga is Noxolo Sibande’s calling.

The 25-year-old Sibande started a non-profit company (NPC) called Xolo’s Touch in 2021 to help children who come from disadvantaged families with sanitary towels, toiletries, uniforms and donated clothes. 

Simangaliso Mokoena is an enterprising young man who has found success in creating his own brand of laundry soap which he produces from home.

Born and raised in Mhluzi, in Middleburg, Mpumalanga the 20-year-old Mokoena infused his strong sense of community values and entrepreneurial spirit from a young age to establish his business - Isimangaliso Pure Soap.

Music is one way to share an African story, especially in a country rich in heritage and culture like South Africa. 
As the country celebrates 30 years of freedom and democracy, young South Africans are causing a stir in the music scene with a ground-breaking blend of modern-style music and classical orchestration.
