The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture is calling for nominations for the National Arts and Culture Awards.
The awards afford an opportunity for creatives and South Africans to honour the best creatives and to give artists the recognition they deserve as part of the country’s nation building project and ability to inspire the world.
“These awards play a vital role in the creative industry by recognising excellence, boosting morale, inspiring, and creating a vibrant nation, and promoting a culture of innovation. They also enhance the reputation of winners and organisations, attracting new opportunities and collaborations. Ultimately, these awards foster a sense of community and inspiration within the creative field whilst also benchmarking ourselves against the best,” said Minister Gayton McKenzie.
The NACAís comprises of the following categories:
- The Heritage Site Award
- The Visual Arts & Craft Award
- The Literary Works Award
- The Audio Visual & Interactive Media Award
- The Design & Creative Services Award
- The Performing Arts Category Award
- The Ministry Award
- Lifetime Achievement Award
- Internationally Recognised Artist or Group Award
- Artist with Disability Award
The NACA categories will be adjudicated by a nomination review committee of experts and an auditing firm, which are intended to safeguard the integrity of the awards and to serve as additional checks and balances.
