With the
voter registration weekend scheduled for 20–21 June 2026, the Electoral Commission of South Africa is encouraging eligible voters to check where they are currently registered to vote. Confirming your registration details ahead of the elections helps ensure that you are registered in the correct voting district, especially for local government elections where voters must vote at the voting station where they are registered.
How to check your voter registration status
Voters can use several official platforms provided by the IEC to check their registration details:
- Visit the IEC website: www.elections.org.za
- Send an SMS with your ID number to 32810
- Call the toll-free call centre from a landline on 0800 11 8000 (available only during specific periods announced by the Commission)
- Use the online registration portal on a smartphone, laptop or tablet at https://registertovote.elections.org.za
- Use the IEC WhatsApp Chatbot on 060 088 0000, which redirects users to the website
- Download the IEC mobile application and enter your identity number.
