Dear Vuk’uzenzele

I just wish to know if one wishes to start a business with no means of capital and only has an idea… what is the first thing for him or her to do?

Dear Khijo

Thank you for reaching out to Vuk’uzenzele newspaper. We are always happy to assist you with some helpful information.

You firstly need to register your business. For more information about registering a business, call the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission on 086 100 2472 or visit: www.cipcregistration.co.za. You can also call the Small Enterprise Development Agency on 0860 663 7867 or visit: www.seda.org.za.

The second step is to draft a business plan so that you can start applying for funding at institutions such as the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA). For more information, contact the NYDA on 0800 52 52 52 or visit www.nyda.gov.za.

Seda and the NYDA can also offer non-financial support such as business training and mentorship programme. I hope you find this information helpful.

Warm Regards
