A growing number of young people in South Africa have completed their studies, but can't find jobs. In partnership with government, a Johannesburg-based non-governmental organisation, is addressing this challenge by providing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for a number of young tourism graduates to gain valuable work experience.

Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) seeks an experienced senior manager to be responsible for training and development. The successful candidate will have insight and understanding of government communications and will play a leading role in the training, induction, and development of manual/guidelines/communication policies and implementation of the qualification for government communicators.

Going strong 17 years later

Nomusa Njoko had been an asthma sufferer since the age of 12, an affliction she never really outgrew. At 22, the disease appeared to rear its ugly head again and Nomusa went for an asthma check-up. At the time, it sounded a bit strange when the doctor suggested that she had an HIV test as she was not responding as well to her prescribed medication as in the past.

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) has issued a commemorative circulation R5 coin celebrating 20 Years of Freedom in South Africa.

The coin has the “20 Years of Freedom” logo depicted on the reverse side instead of the usual image of the wildebeest on the bi-metal R5 coin.

Loyalty, determination and hard work finally paid off for a group of KwaZulu-Natal farm workers when they bought a poultry farm from their employer with the help of government. The eggproducing farm continues to provide an income and job security from more than 15 people in Ngogo area outside Newcastle.
