No to xenophobia
Compliments from visitors to our country during the 2010 FIFA World Cup included the warm and friendly welcome they received from South Africans. Building on this positive feedback, government called on individuals and members of organisations to join hands and say “NO” to xenophobia.

Health: On the road to recovery
South Africa’s health system is recovering following major initiatives to strengthen the system.
In June last year, the Minister of Health Dr Aaron Motsoaledi noted that the health system needed a major overhaul to prevent a crisis. The Minister outlined his plan of action, which includes four key priorities:

South African Forestry Company (SAFCOL) is the Government's forestry company, conducting timber harvesting, timber processing and related activities both domestically and internationally. It is undergoing a strategy review for its eventual disposal.

Many South Africans and visiting football fans, had to use public transport during the FIFA World Cup. They were pleasantly surprised at how efficiently it worked. The country’s improved public transport system has been identified as one of the key legacy projects of the World Cup. This legacy will be enjoyed by generations of South Africans for many years to come.
More nurses, better health
The Gauteng Department of Health and Social Development has made a commitment to increase the intake of nursing students in the next five years to help build an effective health system.
The department aims to recruit a total of 2 660 new nursing students to start training in 2012.
In the next five years, the department aims to increase the intake by 25 per cent per year.
