The IDT is a social infrastructure programme management agency in the public sector. The organisation plays a vital role in ensuring that the country develops built environment professionals. The organisation provides opportunities to matriculants and tertiary level students who would like to pursue studies in the built environment.

The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) has launched the first phase of the revitalisation of Isithebe Industrial Park north of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). 

The department invested R49 million into the park as part of its Revitalisation of Industrial Parks programme that aims to revitalise state-owned industrial parks across the country to promote industrialisation, grow the economy and create jobs. 

South Africa is working hard to meet the target of training 30 000 artisans a year by 2030.

As part of the skills needed to grow the economy, 4 749 new artisans have qualified through the National Artisan Moderation Body.

Also, 24 324 workplace-based learning opportunities were taken up.

A percentage of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) learners no longer have to struggle to get access to education. The KZN Department of Transport has allocated R186 million for scholar transport during the 2016/17 financial year.
