Wage increase a relief for domestic workers

“I am so excited about the increase, it is not that much but it will make a difference. At least I will be able to buy school uniforms in January,” said Sarah Nkomo, a domestic worker in Mbombela. Precious Nkosi, a contract cleaner at the Mbombela local municipality, urged the Labour Department to do inspections because some employers normally don’t comply with wage increases.

For Grade 12 learners, the last and most important lap of their school careers starts on Monday 24 October 2011 when they will sit for the final matric exams.



Speaking at a recent conference on access to justice, President Jacob Zuma said that more courts were needed since some South Africans did not have transport to reach courts, which were often far from their homes.
